Our last Underground of the summer is this Wednesday at TRF in the Garden/Park area. 6:30-8:30pm. Bring $1.00 for pizza and bring your friends!
High School Core will be starting September 18th from 6:30-8:00pm in the Oasis at Table Rock Fellowship!
ATF is a powerful youth conference in Eugene that will challenge and inspire you to live “sold out” for God. Musical bands, drama, media, comedy, fun! Cost is $89. Flyers are available in the youth room and church office.
Friday
7am- San Francisco or bust! We thank you for all of your prayers and are looking forward to seeing the ways in which God works in all of our lives this weekend.
12pm- Lunch at In-N-Out
3:30pm- We’ve just entered the city…excitement abounds on the bus!
6pm- Tonight we hit the streets to meet some homeless people. The kids will have the task of finding out all kinds of information about the city just by asking people questions and directions. This will be very uncomfortable for some. I’ll post the kids’ reactions a little later. Stay tuned.
Saturday
8am- This morning we will be doing a prayer walk throughout the neighborhood, specifically praying for the many Massage Parlors that are around. These Massage Parlors operate as underground brothels and enslave many underage girls. At noon we will be serving lunch to homeless people and sitting down with them to share in the meal. Please pray for the opportunity to share Jesus with people over lunch.
2pm- Our community lunch was awesome! There was a lot of laughing and good times had by all. The kids did great talking with the people and seemed very comfortable having conversations over lunch. There were many conversations about faith and Jesus. You parents should be very proud of your kids!
5pm-This afternoon we walked up Nob Hill, which is about a 10 block hike straight uphill. It’s a beautiful spot that overlooks the city.
While we were there, we worshiped and spent some time praying for the city. Tonight after dinner, we will be doing some “hot chocolate evangelism.” This is when we go out on the streets and hand out hot chocolate to people. The point is not to hand out as much hot chocolate as we can, but instead, to have as much conversation as we can. This activity is always a favorite of the kids.
Sunday
9am- This morning we will be splitting up into groups and each group will find a different church service to attend. After church, we get a chance to experience some of the local cuisine. There is a large Pakistani population in the neighborhood and so we will try out a Pakistani restaurant for lunch.
6pm- Lunch was great! After lunch the kids decided on their next activity. They had the option of visiting the Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, the Golden Gate park, or the hard-core 49er fans could watch the playoff game. Tonight we will be doing round two of hot chocolate evangelism.
Monday
8am-This morning we will be having a time of worship with people from the community. We will then be heading down to the Wharf to hang out and have lunch before we leave.
11am- We hope that you will ask your kids all about their experiences as soon as you pick them up. Here are some questions to get you started:
1. Who was your favorite person that you met on the streets and why?
2. How was the food? Did you like the Pakistani restaurant?
3. Where did you go to church on Sunday? What was the service like?
4. What was your favorite activity that you did?
5. Do you feel like you grew closer to God, or that God taught you something over the weekend?
